MIT D-Lab, part of the Morningside Academy for Design, is the starting point for many ventures that go on to create meaningful global impact. True Moringa, an MIT D-Lab spinout co-founded by Kwami Williams ’12 and Emily Cunningham, is the focus of a ~9 minute CNN “Inside Africa” video starring Williams — with a nice shout-out to D-Lab. Since founding their company, Williams and Cunningham have worked to raise the incomes of 5,000 farmers in Ghana and planted 10 million moringa trees.

True Moringa makes regenerative skincare and wellness products powered by superfood ingredients grown with care on their solar-powered, regenerative organic farm in Ghana.

To date, the company has planted over 10 million trees and serves over 5,000 small farming families.

Used for centuries in traditional herbal remedies, moringa has 92 essential nutrients and 46 antioxidants with benefits for health and topical skincare. Moringa seeds contain a lightweight oil that supports skin barrier health, while moringa leaves are one of nature’s most nutrient-dense ingredients — a spoonful adds as many nutrients as a serving of vegetables, supporting gut health, digestion, immunity, and sustained, caffeine-free energy.

True Moringa’s fresh-from-the-farm formulas are rooted in tradition and backed by science, made with nutrient-dense ingredients manufactured in-house.
